Blessed to write for a cause

This Thanksgiving, I woke up to some heartwarming news. One of my favorite poems, written with much tenderness, has found a special place in a book. My poem is now a part of this collection of writings and illustrations from over 160 creatives inspired by the opening line “If I were a house.”

This fourth collection of #FromOneLine writings is a collaborative project with Sleep Pod – All profits raised from the sale of this title will go to Sleep Pod, to support the incredible work they do in helping keep rough sleepers and refugees warm and dry.

FromOneLineIf I were a house, anthology is now live on Amazon and available to purchase in the US and UK. An eBook version will be available in the next couple of days. In India, the book is also available on pothi.com.

“Thank you so much for being part of this book. I hope you are as pleased with the end result as I am, and I hope that together we can raise lots of funds for Sleep Pod, whilst also giving your words and artwork extra wings to travel around the world.”

Note from Meghan Dargue of the Kobayaashi Studios

As I rejoice for being a part of this global community of creatives, my heart is filled with gratitude for the day, I discovered the #FromOneLine prompt on Twitter. I loved the writing challenge and it soon became a part of my creative routine. I admire Meghan Dargue’s artwork, as I get the first glimpse of the book in this video. She is a talented artist and a wonderful person. I want to give a loud shoutout to Meg for not only bringing the creatives together but for always being kind, gentle, and encouraging in her communication. She helps us make the world better with words and drawings.

Everybody wore a hat

FromOneLine Volume 3 has been published and is now live! Here is around 220 pages of pure brilliance, emotions, words, and thoughts, compiled by Meghan Dargue for the third FromOneLine anthology, published by Kobayaashi Studios, United Kingdom. This anthology features poems and flash fiction from writers around the world.

Where can just one connecting prompt line take us? That’s what the FromOneLine community of writers have been exploring on a regular basis since 2019. I was privileged to be featured in the second volume in December 2021. I regret not being in the first Volume only because then I was not seriously following my creative writing passion. Around mid-July 2021, I was pulled into creative nourishing of the soul due to myriad reasons, and then magic happened.

I reinstated my blog, became a book reviewer for #ReedsyDiscovery Reedsy and the #HimalayanBookClub, got opportunity as a probono editor for a self-published author, and got published, as a short story writer and imagist poet. It was the inspiration and boost I needed in a time of self-doubt. It helped me make some significant decisions to embrace change.

Life changes course in more ways than one. My creative pursuits are not as intensive as they were at the close of 2021, however, I continued writing for the #FromOneLine prompt. It gave me much joy and artistic succor. It made me believe in my creative abilities. For me, being featured in the third anthology is a manifestation of my desire to be read and acknowledged, to be meaningful, and to make my words touch hearts and souls. It’s fulfilling and I only feel love and gratitude for Meghan Dargue for connecting personally with selected contributors and making this gorgeous cover design and poetry collection happen.

“The writings to make it into this volume were chosen from a staggeringly high number of submissions. Poems and pieces of flash fiction have danced me through a rollercoaster of emotions. Words that I have returned to time and again to discover new feelings, or just to delight in connecting with familiar ones. I hope you will enjoy exploring them as much as I have, and may they inspire many more writings and adventures to come.”

The blurb from the Amazon site says all about the stellar writings that Meg chose for this book

From One Line, Vol 2

It is a grand wrap for 2021, with 6 of my poems part of this beautiful anthology of poetry and flash fiction – FromOneLine (Vol.2).

Writing in a few words and within limited characters is a great mental challenge. When you have to create using only the provided first-line prompt, it becomes all the more interesting for the writer.

This anthology brings together myriad perspectives and creativity to these first-line prompts. A perfect Christmas gift with a colorful cover and an accompanying bookmark, with talent overflowing through its pages. The second FromOneLine Anthology has been published as an A5 paperback book. It features 41 prompt lines, 113 authors and 457 poems, and flash fiction.
