The Unseen: An anthology of artwork, flash fiction, and poems
I am thrilled to be a part of a brand new anthology – The Unseen – from Kobayaashi Studios. Entries curated and edited by Meghan Dargue from across the globe have resulted in a whooping collection of 389 pieces of poetry, flash fiction, and artwork by 115 contributors.
It’s an honor that all 6 of my submitted poems have found a home in this anthology and will no more be “unseen”.

In early August, I received literally the best email and news of the year. Meghan Dargue, designer and editor, associated with the Kobayaashi Studios wrote –

As much as my participation in Meg’s #FromOneLine prompts series on the micro-blogging site X (erstwhile Twitter) has given me joy and succor, being included in this anthology is special because of the challenge. The prompts included the first and last line and the writers had to create the words in between, hence the book title, From One Line to Another. A truly creative adventure; I am grateful for the platform that Meg and #KobayaashiStudio provide us each year. I am privileged to be part of another anthology. More on Kobayaashi blog.
FromOneLine Volume 3 has been published and is now live! Here is around 220 pages of pure brilliance, emotions, words, and thoughts, compiled by Meghan Dargue for the third FromOneLine anthology, published by Kobayaashi Studios, United Kingdom. This anthology features poems and flash fiction from writers around the world.
Where can just one connecting prompt line take us? That’s what the FromOneLine community of writers have been exploring on a regular basis since 2019. I was privileged to be featured in the second volume in December 2021. I regret not being in the first Volume only because then I was not seriously following my creative writing passion. Around mid-July 2021, I was pulled into creative nourishing of the soul due to myriad reasons, and then magic happened.
I reinstated my blog, became a book reviewer for #ReedsyDiscovery Reedsy and the #HimalayanBookClub, got opportunity as a probono editor for a self-published author, and got published, as a short story writer and imagist poet. It was the inspiration and boost I needed in a time of self-doubt. It helped me make some significant decisions to embrace change.
Life changes course in more ways than one. My creative pursuits are not as intensive as they were at the close of 2021, however, I continued writing for the #FromOneLine prompt. It gave me much joy and artistic succor. It made me believe in my creative abilities. For me, being featured in the third anthology is a manifestation of my desire to be read and acknowledged, to be meaningful, and to make my words touch hearts and souls. It’s fulfilling and I only feel love and gratitude for Meghan Dargue for connecting personally with selected contributors and making this gorgeous cover design and poetry collection happen.

When you don’t feel belonged, you are isolated, lonely, and then the voices in the head become larger than life, and the fine line between the real and the perceived diminishes.
The short story is a strong but difficult medium. In many ways it is more potent than a novel because it can leave an impact with few words, consuming little time. An observant writer can concoct many stories using everyday themes and images, telling extraordinary tales about ordinary people, evoking emotions and reactions from a diverse readership. In the preface to The Goat Thief, prolific Tamil short story writer, Perumal Murugan, talks about his own tryst with the skill of story writing and how he came to evolve his own style and rendition.
