It was more purple than green
An ugly gash refusing to heal
Salve nor balm, rest nor restrain
Strong enough to erase the pain
A bruise so blue, a crimson tear
Sweet hurt with trembling fear
Yet, I tend to these injuries deep
Purge the venom, not let it seep
Into crevices of my soul so grim
Discard memories like dead skin
Humbled & privileged to have a poem in this collection. I got published nearly after a decade. I had taken a gap from pursuing any publishing opportunities but when I restarted this year, it’s a happy journey!

Yesterday’s ghosts
I roamed around with
Ghouls of the past
I faced them and asked
Stories, trials, anecdotes
Until I conquered my fears
For venom cures venom
They don’t petrify me
That threatened me once
For we all are now storytellers
An apple tree
And a mystery red
Is knowledge evil
Or the best thing yet?
Why are men
Chastised for knowing;
Why ignorance is still
Considered bliss?
