The wind sways
Languid branches
With a gentle lullaby
And dreams pause a bit
On verdant beds
So that they can put
Chaos to rest
And let not nightmares
Be conjured from within
The darkening forests
Of doubt and despair

Despair

I wrote this before 2019 – a different context & mood – when we did not know about a pandemic waiting to be unleashed. Macabre, how true these lines are today, as we battle second wave of Covid19 in our country.

I see darkness
Bloom from within
Sprouting like deadly fungi
Asphyxiating our breath
Killing our senses
With neon doses of despair

Anxiety

Rescue me from
The web of cerebration
Crushing my innards
Clutching my heart
Maddening my soul
With another bout
Of stifling anxiety!
Thoughts growing
Like tendrils within me
Squeezing, squishing
Body, spirit, inside out
Squirming in my brain
Twisted imagination
Triggering a volcano
Of anguish fear, guilt
The demons they win;
Primeval joy, lost in the din!
